BlueTier for Financial Advisors
Advisors win on trust and timing. BlueTier helps keep you in front of the right professionals so the relationship is in place before the need arises.
How it works
How business development actually works in financial advisors
Advisory relationships are long, and the decision to move assets is rarely made on a first conversation. Referral flow from centres of influence — accountants, attorneys, business brokers — usually outperforms direct prospecting, because those people are present at the exact moments money moves. Building that referral bench is a networking problem before it is a sales problem.
What that changes here
Advisers are subject to communications and recordkeeping rules from their firm and regulator. You approve the audience, campaign strategy, messaging, sequence, and operating parameters before a campaign begins, and campaign activity is visible in your dashboard so it can be captured for your compliance archive.
Timing
What actually starts a conversation
Outreach lands when something has changed on the other side. These are the openings worth building a network around.
A senior executive changes employers
An old plan becomes rollable, deferred compensation elections come due, and vested options often carry an exercise window that closes ninety days after the last day. The planning question arrives before the new badge does.
A founder announces an exit
A sale turns one illiquid asset into cash and a tax bill in the same calendar year. Owners who never needed a planner suddenly need several, and they ask their network first.
A CPA or attorney makes partner
New partners inherit a client book and no bench to refer it to. Those habits set fast, so the specialist they meet in year one tends to be the one they use for a decade.
Audience
Who you’ll reach
The audience is defined with you during setup, then built deliberately.
- Business owners and executives planning liquidity events
- Pre-retirees and established professionals
- Centers of influence — CPAs and attorneys
Typical titles in the target audience:
- Founder
- Chief Financial Officer
- Managing Partner
- Certified Public Accountant
- Estate Planning Attorney
Targeting is set by role, seniority, geography, company size and your own stated niche — not by a generic list.
In practice
What that looks like in practice
Every plan starts from the same managed foundation.
Targeted network growth
Connection requests to financial advisory decision-makers who match the audience you approved — relevance first, never indiscriminate volume.
Approved outreach sequences
Messaging and follow-up built from your positioning during setup, approved by you before the campaign begins.
Account-aware activity pacing
Activity is paced to your account and campaign, and pauses when the platform signals a warning or restriction.
BlueTier Dashboard
Campaign status, network activity, connections, outreach, responses, conversations requiring attention, and performance reporting in one place.
Activity is individualized to each account and campaign. No specific volume, acceptance rate, response rate, lead count, or result is guaranteed.
Timeline
What a realistic timeline looks like
Advisory is the slowest of these by some distance, and the front end is slower still because the audience and the messaging usually have to clear a compliance review before a single request sends. Budget a week or two for that, six to eight weeks for the network to reach useful size, and often month three before conversations feel normal. Referral sources run on a longer clock again: an accountant may send nothing for two quarters and then several in a month, once they have decided you are safe to hand a client to.
Reality check
The objection you’ll hear
“My ideal client is not scrolling LinkedIn looking for an advisor.”
They are not. Nobody wakes up and searches LinkedIn for an advisor. What is on there is the announcement — the acquisition post, the new title, the partner promotion — and the accountants and attorneys who see it first. You are not looking for a buyer; you are trying to be in the room when the trigger fires.

Questions
Questions financial advisors ask
Does this run into the SEC Marketing Rule?
The rule governs advertisements, and it permits testimonials and endorsements only with clear and prominent disclosure of whether the speaker is a client, whether they were paid, and what conflicts follow. So nothing in the sequence solicits a LinkedIn recommendation or repeats one back at a prospect. Your compliance officer sees the wording before it is live, not after.
I am a registered rep, not an RIA. Does that change anything?
Yes. Under FINRA's communications rule the static content on your profile is a retail communication and a registered principal has to approve it before use, while the back and forth of a message thread is supervised more like correspondence. In practice your profile copy goes through the advertising desk once and the conversations are reviewed on your firm's normal schedule.
Can I target people by investable assets?
No, and no tool can — LinkedIn has no wealth field. What you can filter on is role, seniority, company size, industry, geography and tenure, which are proxies for a balance sheet, not the balance sheet itself. A twelve-year veteran at a firm that has just been acquired is a signal worth a conversation. It is not a statement of net worth, and it should not be treated as one.
