Abstract grid of glossary term cards connected by thin BlueTier gradient lines

Unified inbox, AI-triaged inbox, AI SDR, CRM, pipeline, sequence, ICP — the terms B2B buyers keep running into when they evaluate an AI-assisted sales inbox, defined in plain English, with where BlueTier itself does and doesn't fit each one.

BlueTier Glossary defines the terms B2B buyers run into most when evaluating an AI-assisted sales inbox: unified inbox, AI-triaged inbox, AI SDR, CRM, sales pipeline, sequence, ICP, and more. Each entry is plain English first, with a note on where BlueTier itself does, or deliberately doesn't, claim the term.

Why This Glossary Exists

Every vendor in this category uses these words slightly differently, and a buyer comparing five tools in five open tabs ends up comparing five different private vocabularies instead of five actual products. This page states plainly what each term means in general use, and separately, where BlueTier itself sits — including terms it deliberately does not claim, like calling its own AI a fully autonomous AI SDR.

Unified inbox

A unified inbox collects messages from multiple channels into one screen instead of forcing a team to check five apps separately. Trengo's product page defines an omnichannel inbox as a platform that centralised "customer interactions from various channels—such as email, social media, live chat, and SMS—into a single interface." BlueTier runs one across LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, Gmail, Outlook, and other IMAP email.

AI-triaged inbox (Lead, Hustler, Noise)

An AI-triaged inbox is a unified inbox with a judgment layer on top: before a person opens anything, AI reads each message and assigns it a category, an intent, and an urgency level. BlueTier's three categories are Lead (someone who might buy, partner, or refer), Hustler (someone pitching you, unprompted), and Noise (not actionable by a person at all). What Is an AI-Triaged Inbox? is the full explainer, including a worked example and the complete category table.

AI SDR

Salesforce defines an AI SDR as "an AI-powered sales development representative that focuses on automating top-of-funnel activities, like lead qualification, outreach, and engagement to help sales teams focus on more creative problem-solving tasks." That's a specific, autonomous-outbound claim: finding strangers, contacting them, and qualifying them without a person starting the conversation. BlueTier does not make that claim. Its AI reads and triages what arrives, drafts grounded replies, and offers scheduling times — the inbound, relationship side of the category, not an autonomous outbound AI SDR. See AI SDR vs. AI-assisted inbox for the full distinction.

AI Response Assistant (knowledge-grounded AI reply)

A knowledge-grounded AI reply means the draft comes from facts a team actually saved — pricing, offerings, scripts, FAQs — rather than a plausible-sounding guess. BlueTier's AI Response Assistant searches that saved knowledge base before it writes anything, available on the Plus and Premium plans. A person reviews, edits, and sends the draft by default; a limited, opt-in auto-send capability exists in Beta and stays off until a workspace turns it on for a specific connection.

CRM

Salesforce's own definition: "CRM is an AI-powered system that unifies all of your company's data, connects every customer touchpoint, and powers employee tools, so you can improve relationships, streamline processes, and drive growth." BlueTier's CRM side — contacts, pipeline, and tasks — fills itself from triaged conversations instead of starting from a blank spreadsheet; every non-Noise contact becomes a record automatically.

Sales pipeline

A sales pipeline is the staged, usually visual, view of where every open deal sits in a company's sales process — HubSpot's own walkthrough frames it as a snapshot of deals moving from first interest through to a close, divided into stages like prospecting, qualifying, and closing. BlueTier's pipeline is a drag-and-drop kanban board that any non-Noise contact lands on automatically, rather than a separate step someone has to remember to do.

Sequence

A sequence is a scripted, multi-step chain of outreach actions with built-in delays between them. A BlueTier LinkedIn sequence is specifically: invite, wait for acceptance, then a drip of follow-up messages spaced out over days — with a hard stop when the person replies, so the scripted steps end once a real conversation has started.

ICP (Ideal Customer Profile)

An ICP is the description of the company and buyer role a campaign is actually built to reach: industry, company size, title, and whatever signal matters for that offer. Teams already building an ICP inside LinkedIn's own targeting tool can carry it straight into a campaign — see the Sales Navigator targeting guide for how that translation works. BlueTier's Premium plan supports multiple ICPs and campaigns running at once; Professional and Plus run a single focused ICP at a time.

Scheduling Assistant

BlueTier's Scheduling Assistance offers real open times plus a booking link inside an AI-drafted reply — it never books a meeting by itself. Beta and available on Plus and Premium, it's backed by the workspace's own connected Calendly account when one is linked, or a built-in availability engine when it isn't. Calendly is the only outside calendar service it connects to; BlueTier does not sync with Google Calendar, Outlook, or Cal.com.

Knowledge base

A knowledge base, in this context, is the set of facts a team uploads, pastes, or imports from a URL so the AI has something real to draft from — pricing sheets, product one-pagers, FAQs, call scripts. It's the difference between an AI that answers from general training data and one that answers from what your own company actually says. BlueTier searches that saved material for the passages relevant to a given message before it drafts anything, rather than writing a reply first and hoping it happens to be accurate.

Campaign

A campaign is one targeted, time-bound push of LinkedIn outreach toward a defined ICP — the unit a sequence runs inside. BlueTier's campaign assistant can draft and edit a campaign's targeting and message steps, but a human approves it before it goes live; the assistant never launches a campaign on its own. Professional and Plus run one campaign's worth of focus at a time; Premium unlocks multiple campaigns and ICPs running in parallel.

Auto-pause and safety limits

In BlueTier, auto-pause means the system itself halts a campaign when its 7-day acceptance rate falls below a floor or pending invitations pile up past a ceiling, rather than waiting for someone to notice on a dashboard. It sits alongside layered sending caps — a conservative default for the account's age, a plan-level weekly quota, and per-connection and per-campaign ceilings — so the effective limit at any moment is whichever of those is lowest. Self-serve automation tools offer their own safeguards, but there the settings are in the hands of whoever runs the tool.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between a sequence and a campaign?

A campaign is the targeted push itself — the audience (ICP), the messaging, and the operating limits — and a sequence is the ordered chain of steps that runs inside it. In BlueTier that chain is invite, wait for acceptance, then follow-up messages spaced over days, stopping when the person replies. A person approves the campaign before anything sends.

What's the difference between a CRM and a pipeline?

A CRM is the whole system that holds every contact and their history; a pipeline is one view inside it — a staged, usually kanban, picture of which open deals are at which stage. BlueTier's CRM holds contacts, pipeline, and tasks together, and the pipeline view is simply the deal-stage slice of that same data.

Which BlueTier features are labeled Beta or Pilot?

Scheduling Assistance is Beta on Plus and Premium, and the optional limited auto-reply is Beta and off by default. The Introduction Service is a Pilot on Premium: introductions are not guaranteed, BlueTier does not verify credentials, and an introduction is not an endorsement.
